UL Remembers Onkgopotse Tiro
The University of Limpopo will host a notable event in memory of former 1972 heroic SRC President of the then University of the North, Onkgopotse Abram Tiro, on 12 September 2012. Expected to be present during this occasion is his family from Dinokana, his former friends, political forums, UL alumni and members of the Mankweng community.
Tiro was born and bred in Dinokana, a small village near Zeerust, and he was enrolled for a Degree in Humanities. He became an Activist and a Teacher during his youth. He is one of the founders that got brutally assassinated by a parcel bomb in the year 1974 while in exile at Botswana. Tiro will always be remembered for the inestimable contributions he made in bringing about the demise of apartheid and ushering in our cherished democracy.

The event will be concluded by unveiling of a plaque in his memory.  It will be held at the University hall that was named after him, the Great Onkgopotse Tiro Hall,Turfloop Campus.
