Professor/Associate Professor: Public Health

Public Health is an exciting, dynamic and developing part of the University of Limpopo and teaches postgraduate students in public health (MPH). It also has a wide range of public health research projects. It seeks to employ an appropriate academic to expand its quantitative research base and support its teaching platform.

Requirements:

  • A PhD, DrPH, MD; Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) with expertise and experience in quantitative research (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) preferable.
  • The applicant must have an established research record and output.
  • Independent and ongoing research with several publication in SAPSE/DNE/ISI accredited journals and/or chapters in books is welcome.
  • A record of successful postgraduate supervision is also required.
  • Experience in academia and must be considerable.
  • Candidates require ten years (eight years for Associate Professor) of experience in Public Health teaching including academic leadership, management and research experience and a track record of developing new initiatives in public health and fostering postgraduate students.

Duties:

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Provide leadership in the school and to represent the school in the Faculty and University as well as relevant national and internal forums.
  • Provide academic leadership in the teaching of postgraduate students.
  • Supervise, initiate and conduct research in appropriate public health areas.
