Why the Conference

 Background information for previous Conference.

• The last Convocation Conference was held on the 26th November 2005 at the Eskom Convention Centre, Midrand.  The aim and decision taken were that the two Executive Committees from the former Universities of the North and MEDUNSA be combined (merged) in order to forge trust and understanding between the two Executive Committees at the time.  A decision was also reached to work with Co-Presidents, an aspect not in existence in the two former Universities constitutions and the Higher Education Statute or even that of the University.
• The added intention was also to hold a conference after three years where the constitution and a substantive Executive Committee would be elected, with one President and the rest of the Committee members but all this never took place.

 THE INTENTIONS FOR THE 2016 CONVOCATION CONFERENCE

• To reconstitute the Convocation of the University of Limpopo;
• To elect an Executive Committee of Convocation and
• To nominate representatives to Council

COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES

• There shall be Council representatives of the Association in the Council as determined by the statute of UL;
• The term of office of the representatives shall coincide with the term of office of the Council, and
• The representatives shall be eligible for re-election.
