In the fourth year of study, students choose one of the following modules: Chemical Pathology, Medical Genetics, Haematology, Immunology, Medical Microbiology and continue with Research Methodology focusing on statistical analyses (Biostatistics). Students are introduced to specialization, i.e. choose one of the above mentioned modules. Students are requested to carry out a research project, which includes preparation of a project proposal, data collection and analysis and then a written a project report. On completion a student can continue directly to M.Sc. (Medical Sciences) provided he/she has met the requirements of University of Limpopo.
