I, Manimbulu Nlooto, have been the Head of the Pharmacy Department at the University of Limpopo since 2020. I have joined the University of Limpopo after eight years of work at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where I have also occupied for two consecutive academic years the function of the academic leader for the Discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences from 2018 to 2019, including the Bachelor of Pharmacy and other postgraduate qualifications. Before that I was involved as the researcher coordinator of the same entity or discipline for two consecutive years from 2016 to 2017. I joined the University of KwaZulu-Natal as a lecturer in 2012 after working as a part-time lecturer for Tshwane University of Technology and University of Limpopo- MEDUNSA Campus at the time from 2008 while working for the Gauteng Provincial Department of Health as a registered pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council. I have been in the practice of pharmacy in South Africa since 2004.
I have gained experience in both the practice of pharmacy and the academic environment in the course of time which allows me to navigate in my research interests from pharmacy practice to pharmacology related projects. Being a research coordinator at the University of KwaZulu-Natal helped me to join a pool of facilitators for PhD research proposal development and capacity building, led consistently by Prof. Moses John Chimbari. To date, I have published more than fifty research articles emanating from research projects undertaken by myself or supervised for postgraduate students. I have proudly graduated more than thirteen masters and four doctoral candidates either on sole supervision or in co-supervision while many others (masters and doctoral candidates) are still in the pipeline.
I have reviewed many research articles from various accredited peer-reviewed journals as well as doing external examinations of postgraduate work (dissertation and thesis) from many universities in South Africa.
