Batlhabine Baga Mogoboya Heritage Festival

Where Heritage Lives, Community Connects

The University of Limpopo Technology Transfer Office is taking the celebration of community, culture and heritage beyond the ordinary with the Bathlabine Baga Mogoboya Heritage Festival 2026, taking place from 29–31 October 2026 at the Tlhabine Heritage Site.

The festival creates a space where the stories of a community can be remembered, shared and carried forward. Over three days, the Bathlabine Baga Mogoboya heritage and history will take centre stage through storytelling, exhibitions, cultural performances, youth engagement, the recognition of community heroes, hiking and sport.

From the narration of the community’s history on the opening day, to celebrating its heroes and cultural expressions, and culminating in sport, hiking and traditional dance, the festival brings together people, place, knowledge and culture.

For the University of Limpopo Technology Transfer Office, the celebration also speaks to the importance of recognising and creating platforms for the knowledge and heritage held within communities.

This October, come experience the stories, celebrate the culture and connect with a community whose heritage continues to shape its identity.
