The School of Health Care Sciences (SHCS) comprises five departments: Pharmacy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Public Health, Optometry, and Nursing Science.

As one of the two schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences, the School of Medicine brings new dynamics to the medical fraternity as the first medical school in democratic South Africa.
