  1. An individual who has successfully completed at least one year of study in any degree, diploma, or certificate program approved by the senate.

  2. A retired academic, not a graduate of the University of Limpopo/University of the North, with a minimum of 10 years of service.

Welcome to the fraternity of the University of Limpopo.

As a graduate of the University of Limpopo, you automatically become its Alumnus and a member of the UL Alumni and Convocation Association. It is our pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the President of Alumni and Convocation, Mr Donald Selamolela as an Alumnus, and a member of Convocation. 

WHO IS AN ALUMNUS?

An Alumnus is:-

  • A graduate of the university.
  • He/She has completed his/her degree.

Who else is an Alumnus?

  • Persons who have received honorary degrees from UL.
  • Exchange students.
  • Visiting academics.
  • A person who has received a diploma from UL and
  • Donors/sponsors
  • A person who has successfully completed at least one year of study in any degree, diploma or certificate programme approved by the Senate.

What is the role of the Alumni and Convocation Association at the University?

  • The Alumni and Convocation Association plays an integral role in the life of the University. 
  • It is a statutory body.

 

 

  • Members discuss and state their opinion on any matter relating to the University through the participation of their elected members to the University Council, Institutional Forum, and Senate.
  • The integral function of the Alumni and Convocation is to raise funds to assist the University in its endeavours and to assist needy deserving students.

You will be invited to exclusive events, where you are addressed by distinguished alumni who have made their mark in their respective communities.

All alumni events are geared towards providing graduates with opportunities to network and establish contacts with graduates in their field, with whom they would not normally be able to interact on an equal footing.

You will be kept informed of the UL programmes.

You will be able to interact and network with your fellow graduates.

What is your role as an Alumnus?

  • To join the Association in your Province/Chapter.
  • To join your respective sectors. 
  • To attend AGM’s (Provincially and nationally).
  • To attend class re-unions.
  • To elect members from the Association to Council and other University structures.
  • To identify prospective students for the University (Student Recruitment).
  • To adopt a student(s) to mentor.
  • To offer UL students internships, vac jobs, experiential learning opportunities, and job placements.
  • To contribute to the Alumni Fund.
  • To assist the Association in identifying possible donors/funders.
  • Guest Speaking (graduations and other University functions).

We invite you to remain involved in the life of your alma mater by joining your Provincial /Sector Alumni of the Association and fully participating in its various projects.
