The University of Limpopo, the University of Venda, and the Limpopo Department of Agriculture invite researchers, academics, policymakers, postgraduate students and practitioners to submit full research papers for the 63rd Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA) Conference 2026. This flagship gathering provides a platform for critical dialogue and cutting-edge research on the evolving landscape of agricultural economics in South Africa, the continent, and the world.
The 2026 conference will be guided by the theme, “Geopolitics in Agriculture: Striking a Balance Between Policy, Markets, Food Security and Shared Prosperity.” The theme reflects the increasing influence of global political dynamics on agricultural systems, food supply chains, markets, technology, and climate governance. As geopolitical shifts continue to shape trade flows, resource allocation, and development priorities, the conference seeks to examine how Africa can build resilient, competitive, and inclusive agricultural economies capable of withstanding global uncertainty.
Scheduled to take place at Legend Golf & Safari Resort in Mokopane, Limpopo, the conference will run from 29 September to 1 October 2026. Delegates will engage with a range of sub-themes, including governance and political economy, value chains and rural transformation, climate resilience, and the role of innovation and technology in driving sustainable agrarian development. The event aims to foster collaborative research, generate policy-relevant insights, and strengthen networks across academia, government, and the agricultural sector.
Important dates include the opening of paper submissions on 11 May 2026, the 30 June 2026 deadline for full papers and symposia, notification of acceptance on 30 July 2026, and the 1 August 2026 early bird registration deadline. Researchers are encouraged to submit timely and original contributions that align with the conference theme and sub-themes.
