Short Learning Programme (SLP): Introduction to Mining

The Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Limpopo invites you to explore the fascinating world beneath our feet through its Short Learning Programme (SLP): Introduction to Mining. Designed to equip professionals with essential mining knowledge, this dynamic two-week course offers a unique blend of in-person engagement and online support, perfect for the modern learner seeking to advance in one of South Africa’s most vital industries.

This programme is tailored to you, whether you are a geologist, engineer, metallurgist, environmental scientist, or government official involved in mining and development.

The course will be offered in two cycles in 2025: 13 to 25 July and 29 September to 10 October.

Applications for the first intake open from 15 May to 15 June 2025, with a second opportunity from 1 to 30 August 2025. Join industry experts, gain hands-on insights, and take the next bold step in your career.

The cost is R14,300.00 per participant, and early application is strongly encouraged as spaces are limited.

Our Introduction to Mining Short Learning Programme (SLP) is designed for:

Step 1: Begin by completing the general online application provided by the University, which is managed by the Enrolment Management Department. During this process, you must upload all required supporting documentation, and pay the application handling fee. Once you successfully submit your application, you will receive a reference or student number, which will be important for tracking your application status.

 

Step 2: Following the completion of Step 1, you will need to fill out the Short Learning Programme (SLP): Introduction to Mining form  or scan the QR Code
