WHAT IS IP COMMERCIALISATION?

IP commercialisation is the process of transforming intellectual property assets (patents, trademarks, trade secrets, plant breeder’s rights, copyrights, etc.) into profitable products, services, or businesses. This process generates revenue and value from these assets.

THE BENEFITS

Generate Revenue

IP commercialisation can create new revenue streams through licensing deals, royalties, direct sales of products/services built on your IP, or revenue from spin-off companies.

Enhance Your Research Impact

Commercialising IP brings your research out of the lab and into the real world, where it can solve problems, improve lives, and create tangible benefits.

Foster Industry Partnerships

The commercialisation process often involves collaboration with businesses, investors, and other stakeholders, forging valuable connections.

OUR COMMERCIALISATION PROCESS

The process starts with an IP Analysis to identify and assess the intellectual property (IP) for commercialisation potential.

  • Techno-Economic Assessment is conducted to evaluate the technical viability, market potential, and economic feasibility of the IP.
  • Based on the assessments, a Commercialisation Decision is made, which could involve licensing, spin-out company creation, or other options.
  • IP Commercialisation Training is provided to equip researchers/innovators with the skills and knowledge to navigate the commercialisation process.
  • The TTO offers support in various aspects of commercialisation, including licensing negotiationspin-out support, and commercialisation funding guidance.
